Albany Zavarce
Albany Zavarce moved from Venezuela to the United States with her parents at the age of fourteen in pursuit of better opportunities. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new culture and language, she excelled academically and earned a spot on her high school’s varsity track team during both her sophomore and junior years. Albany is a dedicated, resilient, and driven individual with a deep commitment to community service and environmental advocacy.
Her passion for environmental awareness inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Geospatial Analysis. At the University of North Georgia (UNG), she is an active officer in Students for Environmental Awareness (SEA) and a member of Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, where she serves as a "Water Warrior," participating in clean-up efforts and conservation initiatives to protect local ecosystems.
Beyond her environmental work, Albany is equally committed to supporting her academic community. She serves as a campus tour guide, helping prospective students navigate the college experience and sharing strategies for academic success. She is also a member of the UNG Honors Program, where she engages in challenging coursework that provides a deeper, more enriched learning experience.
Motivated by her desire to make a meaningful impact, Albany is eager to pursue graduate studies to further expand her knowledge and contribute to the fields of environmental science and geospatial research.
