Day 4 - Thursday May 21st
Day four of the 2026 STEMNetX Fellowship Boot Camp highlighted the intersection of innovation, entrepreneurship, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Fellows attended a presentation titled "Lab to Market: Future of Robotics and AI" led by Ryan Haggerty of the Pittsburgh Robotics Network. The session explored how emerging technologies move from research laboratories into real-world applications and commercial products, while providing insight into the rapidly growing robotics and AI ecosystem in the Pittsburgh region.
The day concluded with a hands-on Arduino workshop led by Rebecca Callaway and Shivron Sugrim, P.E. Fellows learned about electronics, programming, and embedded systems while exploring practical engineering applications. During the session, Rebecca and Shivron also demonstrated a virtual reality Mars exploration experience and a custom Mars rover, showcasing how immersive technologies and robotics can be used to engage students in STEM learning and space exploration.
