Samiya Henry

Samiya Henry is a fourth-year student enrolled in a dual-degree program in Physics and Mechanical Engineering through Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh. She holds several leadership roles across both campuses, including President of the Residence Hall Association, Vice President of Mission and Community for the Student Government Association, and Student Outreach Coordinator for the Engineering Makerspace Mentor Program.

Samiya is currently conducting research on the mechanical properties of the quadriceps tendon to evaluate its viability as a graft site for Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery. Her work was recently recognized with a first-author publication in Ingenium, the University of Pittsburgh’s undergraduate research journal.

Passionate about both science and policy, Samiya plans to attend law school after completing her undergraduate studies, aiming to merge her STEM background with interests in intellectual property and national security law. Her long-term goal is to work for NASA or a Department of Defense-affiliated organization focused on spacecraft and aeronautical design.
